That sucks.. Could you accept him for what he likes and move on together? Hope you're doing alright.

ok, so i let bf know that it bothered me that he liked swords and anime and stuff, and he told me that he only pretended to like them because all of his past girlfriends have loved it. and he thought i did too. so when i told him i didnt like it, his mother, father, and brother helped clear his room of all of it...and to think that this was all so simple...lol...and thank you to all who have answered.

A male reader, Capri2 Argentina +, writes (19 February 2011):

The news are: you don't love him. Because love is something you feel for someone as a whole. Then, there shouldn't be something that big, being a part of his personality, that you hate.

I would accept that you tell me you hate the way he brushes his teeth. Which is insignificant if we talk of his personality. But liking manga, swords and such is and outstanding mark of his personality.

What's wrong with that stuff? Sounds like a fun guy with good taste.

If you don't like it, choose someone else instead of being judgemental.

And you "love" him?

If he likes those things he's going to like them, you either accept someone's interests or you don't, he shouldn't have to change to be "cool."

If he wants you to dress up as an elf you can definitely refuse, but why not allow him to do things and you to do yours.

If it bothers you so much find a new boyfriend (I see nothing wrong with being a "geek").

Just because he likes things you don't it doesn't make him a geek. I think you should grow up a little. If it bothers you that much then be with somebody else.
