First time we tried we spent half an hour trying to find the 'spot' but it would always slip out. Can this happen because of nerves? Can yall give me some pointers on what to do to calm down?

If y'all are ready it will be fine. it sounds like maybe he's at a funny angle too. Keep it simple. Let him get on to and tilt your pelvis up a bit toward him. You should line up better, but if that doesnt work than you get on top. You'll figure it out. Just be sure to wrap up because yes, you can get pregnant on the first time!

This can happen to anyone. My advice is to foreplay(let him go down on u and u go down on him) before having sex, it will give u a chance to get to know eachothers bodies and warm up.
