A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Hey :) so the other night I was out in a bar, now strictly speaking I wouldnt be allowed in there, as i'm 17, but all my friends are 18 and I look old for my age, anyway I wasn't drinking.

So yeah I got talking to some people next to me, in particular this one guy. He seemed really nice and told me he was a student in his first year at the local uni. He asked me how old I was, and I said 18, because I didn't want to get into the whole 'your underage' conversation and plus we were near the bar and I didn't want to be overheard and kicked out. Anyway, I told him we were all in college/sixth form, but he assumes im in year 13, whereas im actually year 12. As the night went on we continued to talk and he asked for my number, because I said i'd show him around the town seeing as hes new here. Anyway as I went to leave, he called me back and gave me a kiss, and I couldn't exactly reject him! But I didnt really want to kiss him because i'm trying to get over my last relationship and I dont think i'm there yet..

Anyway he's texed me saying 'Prehaps we can meet up soon?' So I know I need to tell him my real age, but not entirly sure how to word it?! Or if I should bother cos I might not see him again lol.

Also, how do I get over my old relationship? I just feel we've had no closure, as we kinda drifted apart... and I have a suspicion he slept with another girl (one I strongly dislike) because he stood me up to hang with her (but he doesnt know I know this.)

:/

Caring Stranger agony auntok well firstly you know you shouldnt have lied about your age to this guy. if you ever did meet up i dont know how you could have a relationship that started with a lie. i can understand your reasons for lying but it just makes things complicated and all lies come out in the end.

Secondly, you say you are not over your ex so i dont think it would be a good idea to meet up with this new guy. its not fair to start a new relationship when you still care about someone else.

getting over a past relationship is never easy, especially if you really cared about the person. however, you just need to focus on the reasons why you broke up. you drifted apart and you think he cheated...you can do better and one day, when you are ready you will find someone new who will treat you well.

xx
