Call 911! You are most likely having an anxiety attack, but it could be anything! We can not see you, we don't know your health history. If you feel like you can't breathe, or like something is wrong - go to the hospital immediately!! Good luck!

The stress resulting from it could be a trigger, but at your age I don't think it's very likely. Still, if you're feeling any of the symptoms of a heart attack you should see a doctor immediately.

You are probably suffering from anxiety, a regrettably common reaction to situations we cannot control. Chest pains may warrant a trip to the emergency room, but if you are suffering from shallow breath, shakiness, diminished attention and focus, tingling in your extremities, among other symptoms I cannot recall, you are having an anxiety attack. Is there someone with whom you can talk, or who can sit with you to help you calm down?Hope you feel better. I totally understand the demons that plague you when your heart is broken.

If you didn't mean it in the sense that you are literally suffocating, then I'm not sure of the answer to your question. Depression has been shown to manifest with physical side effects, so this could be related to that... I've also heard that elderly spouses often die soon after the other has passed, which nurses and romantics like calling 'to die of a broken heart'.
Any more detail?
