Since I was 18 (gonna be 27 next month), I have had moderate to severe pain in my left ovary. I had gone to the emergency room at least twice a year (nearly every year) for the pain and every time I've been told I have "matured follicles"(what the heck is that?!) that have burst during ovulation. They put me on birth control. They also discovered I had a small cyst on my left ovary which they said they will not remove because it will shrink and die. It's been eight years and I have been on the birth control for a full year and I still get pain where I can not go anywhere. I have also noticed a pattern: whenever I haven't gone "number 2" in a few days, the excrement inside me presses up against my cyst/ovary and the pain is unbearable. I wanted to know if anyone has had this problem before and/or what I should do. Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for reading! Reply to this Question Share |

I made an appointment with another doctor for next month and I am confident this appointment will go well. I am going to ask for another pelvic sonogram for peace of mind and definitely make a list of questions and concerns before heading to the doctor. Thanks again!

Hi there, i sympathize with you, pain is not good. Since what they have told you in the past, does not seem to be working, I would agree completely with gabberjackranch, that you should find a new doctor. Specifically a woman gynocologist, she would have more empathy for you. The other thing I would suggest you ask, is if you had that one ovary removed would, you still be able to have children, I think you could, although you might not ovulate as regularly as you do now. Write down all the questions you have before you visit the gyn, and try to find a good gyn, a total specialist. I know gyn's are specialists, but try to find a very reputable one. This problem should be able to be taken care off, so that you don't suffer so much.
Take care and stay in touch. Good luck.

But I can tell that you need to find a new doctor that willl LISTEN to you, and I really mean LISTEN. You should not be going through this kind of pain and discomfortqnt. You need to keep searching, until you find a doctor that will listen to you. Best of Luck Sweetie... Let me know how it goes.

That sounds awful - and it sounds to me like something you need to be talking to a qualified medical professional about rather than well meaning aunts (and any uncles that happen to have overies!)
Someone may have experienced something similar and have some advice that might help, but if it was me I would be hassling my doctor and getting referred to a specialist in order to get it sorted properly.
