well to start off me and my boyfriend of 1 year split up recently. It was his choice really and he got really mad at me. this week he's been acting very strange telling me he still loves me and he only wants a break. But i still love him and i dont want a break for too long. Im happy to wait for a while but i dont know how long he wants to wait for. He gets angry when i ask him and always says that he doesnt want to be pressured. i dunno what to do now shall i wait or do you think its time to move on ?

A female reader, betty_black United Kingdom +, writes (17 June 2009):

betty_black agony auntNo no no. Sometimes a break is needed to get your heads together and rebuild the chemistry inside you so that when you see each other again you rekindle the romance and the love. Its important to take breaks from each other every now and then, even if its not an official "break" and just spending a few days apart or else you'll drive each other insane and to the point of breaking. Evem married couples need some time apart. Believe him in what he says, he still loves you he just wants some time to himself. Understand that and leave him be for a while.
