reader, anonymous, writes (1 June 2009): It could be that this guy doesn't like you in a romantic way, but he likes your friend, and he was trying to say it in a nice way.
But you said your friend, who likes him too, told you what he said. It could be that she was making that up to put you off, so she can flirt with him instead. I would advise just seeing how you get on with this guy, and see how he behaves around you, rather than relying on what your friend says. You'll probably get a good idea for yourself of whether he likes you or not. x

Here are two common things that it could be:
1. You came on too strong (it was too obvious that you were into him and that made him uncomfortable) or,
2. You were trying too hard to be noticed - you said anything that came into your head or were generally too loud.
Try to be calm when you talk to guys, it's fine to flirt, but don't get too carried away. You really don't need to treat us much differently than your friends. Talk to us normally, be friendly and occasionally, be a little flirty.
It could have just been bad luck anyway :)
