writes:My boyfriend smokes using a shottie bottle because he doesn't want his fingers to turn yellow from rolling cigarettes. The problem is, this method means he gets the whole hit of nicotine at once so when he doesn't smoke he goes absolutely insane. He's abusive and angry and can get really violent. The only way he can change is if he quits smoking but he refuses because it would mean he'd act like this for a long period of time. I don't know what to do, this is putting so much strain on our relationship because he becomes a completely different person and I hate him when he's like this. Help us please!P.S Just to clarify, this is just tobacco he's smoking, not cannabis or any illegal drug.

Cocain can be smoked through a bottle aswell, but i doubt hes using that.
I used to smoke weed myself a few years ago.
It would be called smoking a bong, smoking out of a bottle.
I have never herd of smoking nicotine out of a bottle, only an old fasioned pipe!
This really is rubbish that hes feeding you telling you its just a bit of baccy! more like wacky baccy!
And his attitude towards you is easily explained through him smoking weed.
nervousness, paranoia and even violance.
Tell him that its alright him smoking weed but once he aint gettin enough effect from it hell move on to something more stronger and dangerous! thats how it starts!
But until you come to realising that hes lying to you, theres not alot anyone can do about the way he treats you because its due to that exact reason. good luck!

reader, anonymous, writes (28 January 2008): It sounds to me to be very much like weed My ex used to smoke it and his moods were terrible, from laughable to insane, shouting and swearing to hysteria. Sorry, mate but i wouldnt hang around and take that crap. I got out with our young son. He after effects are not worth mentioning.

This sounds a very stange way to smoke and the reasons behind it are strange to love, Im not saying I disbelieve the fact that he is not on a drug but from what you have discribed his behaviour points to something else, But your word to me is your word. Im a smoker YUK! one of my not so nice vices but I have no yellowing of fingers as I clean my hands with lemon that takes any stains away. Saying that I am and do want to try and give up so i sit with a none lit cig it may seem strange but it does work. Has your boyfrind thought of patches to help the craving as this may help with the insane side of his behaviour or maybe chewing nicoret gum its got a horrible taste but it may also work with the anger issues, Ive never heard of anyone using a shottie for just nicotine and ive never heard of this violent behaviour fron nicotine withdrawing. I would advise you if he is being violent and abusive to leave as this is not good for you in anyway or at least get him to seek help for these outburts hunny as in the end its going to ruin your love in the end. You do need to think about yourself love and take care of you please be carefull. There is a group called victim support that can help you with a violent partner its all in confidence they should be in the phone directory love.
