He said "I love you" after only 2 weeks and it has really freaked me out!

Question - (31 March 2013) 7 Answers - (Newest, 1 April 2013)
A female United Kingdom age 26-29, anonymous writes:

My boyfriend told me he loved me when he was drunk after 2 weeks...?

It really freaked me out and I said nothing back.

Should I confront him about it and tell him I don't think love is possible until about the 6 month mark and that it made me feel uncomfortable; or does drop it because he was drunk and didn't mean it?

A reader, anonymous, writes (1 April 2013):

ive had male collegues tell me they love me when drunk on a night out but I don't take it literally.

He was being silly when drunk its as simple as that. Obviously he wont have fallen in love after 2 weeks as love takes a long time to develop (as apposed to lust) so I would laugh the incident off.

I would however be concerned about the fact that he is drunk. If he will get that drunk after 2 weeks with you then that may be a sign of things to come.

So_Very_Confused agony auntPeople often say silly stupid things when they are drunk

There is no CONFRONTATION for this. He may not even remember it.

He was drunk… ignore it.

but do focus on the fact that you are 16/17 and he is hopefully around the same age... why is he drinking so much that he's getting drunk.. NOT a good sign....

Hmm, everyone sounds very cynical, what if he really does love you? Obviously you havent fallen head over heals in love yet! Some people can fall in love very quickly. 3 months is a good test of time though. Just how drunk was he? And was the I love you followed with a "and can I take your clothes off" ? Then you should be doubt his intentions. Remember actions talk a lot louder than words.

Drop it because he was drunk and didn't mean it. He probably meant it in some drunken way, but not in a loving romantic, deep and meaningful way. He probably meant it like "I love hanging out with you so far"...

OR he loves the feelings he is having about you.

Say nothing...

He was horny and wanted to get into your pants, so he hoped that telling you he loved you would be enough to get you to put out for him.

If you don't know by now, then you need to learn quick: a horny guy will tell a girl ANYTHING to get her into bed. Don't believe a word of what he says, especially when he's drunk.

I think it's completely normal for you to be put off by this - especially with him being drunk. But just remember that he was intoxicated, and probably would not have said what he said if he were sober.

I'd say, bring it up with him if it made you uncomfortable. :)

However, I wouldn't worry yourself because in the grand scheme of things, at least you could take it as a compliment. People say worse things when drunk. x)

What I'm more concerned about is, are you comfortable with him drinking around you?
