Anyway he's already seeing someone else 3 weeks ago after having split with his second wiife in september.i feel so silly because when we work together i cant describe it - we work together really well, always laughing and joking etc and ive helped him loads since he started and have always been there for him. im still fragile after my split so didnt expect these feelings. anyway he relies on me a lot for work which i admit i secretly enjoy but tonight he was very cool with me on the phone and i dont know why-i had helped him with some work today and he was fine earlier but was weird with me tonight and only stayed on the phone a minute. im so upset ive made an idiot out of myself-i dont know whats happened :(((

So when you say 'tonight', do you mean you're calling him outside of work hours? If that's the case, maybe he had company and didn't want to be rude by spending ages on the 'phone, or maybe he likes to leave work behind when he goes home, if that's what you called to talk about.

If you initiated the phone call he may have had a strong urge to visit the bathroom, his mother may have come to visit bearing his freshly laundered undies or his new bird, you know, the one he started dating three weeks after his split, might have been draped all over a sofa wearing nothing but a flimsy strip of gauze.
If he initiated the call, all of the above may still have been true, apart from the gauzy stip girl.
