It sounds like he felt crowded in your relationship. Maybe he wasn't ready for a relationship or maybe you needed him too much but you're better off without him.

This guy is just not ready for any sort of relationship by the sounds of things.
Don't get too upset with this, I know it may feel bad right now but he gave you an enormous compliment about the fact that he feels you are great, it is him that is in the confused state not you.
In my opinion his loss and your gain.
Don't mope around get out and about with your friends and if he is a guy who sees that your out enjoying yourself and not crying your eyes out over him then you have moved on and you are living your life.
You are starting out on the dating side of things so there will be guys who come and go in your life but you will know who the really special ones are.
I have twin 17 year old nieces and another niece who is 15, the two 17 year old's are in relationships and one is engaged but their guys are there for them no matter what and they are trustworthy and they enjoy doing all the normal things like going to the flicks, meals, hanging out etc etc.
Just have fun right now as life is for living OK.
Take care.
Here if you need me OK.
