He has really fair skin and the sun will easily burn him. He doesn’t like sun-lotion. He said the smell and the sticky feeling really bothers him. I tried a few more sheer feeling and scent-free sun lotion on him, and he still insists they are sticky. I don’t want him to get burn. Can anyone suggest something I can do to help him? Hi,
For years we have been using Banana Boat Sports Lotion, but I can't for the life of me remember if there is a strong smell. I know there are a lot of sweat-proof, water-proof Gels that sink into the skin quicker and don't feel as greasy. You should apply your lotions indoors and let them dry for about 20 minutes BEFORE exposure to the sun (before breakfast). That way you feel dryer before you hit the beach. Most lotions will tell you that they aren't actually water-proof until they have dryed. Another great product is this super lightweight fabric that they make into sweats, jackets, etc. that is a lightweight sunscreen fabric outfit. You see a lot of people from Japan wearing them when you travel. I can understand your concern for your boyfriend - my husband burns the same way. He and I sat without sunscreen for one hour at 5 in the afternnoon under an umbrella in Greece thinking we didn't need any! We thought we would be alright because we weren't in the sun between 11 and 2! The sun bounced off the ocean under the umbrella and we got the worst burn that we ever had! Good Luck with your search!

There are tons of brands of sun tan lotion out there... maybe go to a boutique and see if they have any really nice kinds that don't smell or stick?
Otherwise, I'm with Anonymous. Let him burn! If he's being so ridiculous about it, then fine. You just let him know about the risks of going out without suntan lotion. Skin Cancer, anyone? If he's willing to take the risk of getting cancer, well then... he must be really stubborn.
Let him burn a time or two and if he doesn't change his ways... well, let him know that you're concerned for his health and that if he doesn't start wearing sun tan lotion, you're making him wear long-sleeved shirts, a big sun hat and he's got to carry an umbrella when you go outside or to the beach.
Good luck, sweetness.
