We have a great relationship and are like best friends. Of course, there is a problem or I wouldn't be here! When we first started dating, I knew my husband wasn't particularly fond of children. At the time, I wasn't sure I ever wanted to have kids either. But now my biological clock seems to be ticking, and while I am on the fence a little, I've become more interested in having children. My husband has become slightly open to the idea, but the problem now is I'm on a high dose of some medication due to an anxiety disorder. I'm great on the meds and have made huge strides with behavior therapy, but we both have concerns that if I go off the meds to get pregnant I won't be well. Have any of you ladies out there been pregnant while on an SSRI (anti-depressant)? My therapist says Prozac is safe but I still have concerns. My husband seems to be against having children if it means I'm off the medication.Thank you

LonelyTwo gives good advice - this is a question for a pharmacist & OBGYN.
As far as I know, fluoxetine (prozac) does not harm a developing fetus but the baby may experience some withdrawal effects after birth. (I am not sure exactly what the baby would experience - you would have to ask a neonatal specialist) Prozac is sometimes used during pregnancy in women when it's considered too risky for her to stop the meds.
The manufacturer of Prozac recommends that you don't breast feed as it's excreted in the breast milk.
