writes:So today, I got a text message from a number I didn't recognize. Now, I dont memorize numbers anymore, so I asked who this was and explained all my contacts had been deleted upon switching cell phones.They responded hurt that I would forget their number "baby". This was very strange, because I have a boyfriend who does not call me baby, so it was obviously a prank or a wrong number. I asked if they had a wrong number, and they said they knew it was the right number, and "if you cant even remember me, then bye boo" So the gist of this question is, has anyone ever gotten a text from someone you dont know, and they think they're texting their loved one? I dont have any particular reason to ask this, other than curiousity.Please do share stories of wrong number texts!

 I just spent a week getting wrong number calls leaving messages on my land line...
I've had wrong numbers on my land line all the time
and i get texts now and then on my phone too.
accidents happen...
best wrong number story ever:
growing up our house number (all we had before cell phones) was ONE number off from the local movie house.
we got calls for the movie house all the time.. MOM hated it but we dealt with it as it was never too annoying...
well one morning mom was home alone and just getting out of the shower... she had nothing but a towel on and the phone rings (also before caller ID) and she answers it and a man says '
"excuse me, could you tell me what's showing?"
mom hung up and called the phone company and had the phone number changed that day.

I wouldn't have believed it if he hadn't shown me!He'd been sitting in class at school when his phone started ringing in his pocket; luckily he had it on silent. It vibrated for a good minute before the caller rang off... only to try again a few moments later, and for longer this time. When my brother checked his phone at the end of the lesson he found a text had come through too: "Hey Steve. If you're not at the pub in 10 minutes, I'm telling her everything, I swear." More than an hour had passed since it had been sent. One can only guess what happened to poor old Steve - and he never would've seen it coming. Ah, the perils of wrong numbers! x

reader, anonymous, writes (27 December 2011): Yes I have had a text like that from a wrong number, my 75 year old Mum has got one too asking if she wanted to hook up tonight sexy? I simply texted him back telling him that he the wrong number and no my 75 year old mother does not want to hook up tonight or any other night either, poor guy almost died from embarassment once he realised his mistake lol, it happens sometimes. I even got a phonecall from a wrong number saying "I'm coming up the stairs now baby" to which I responded oh no your not and asked who the hell the guy was, it was a simple wrong number.

The person wouldn't tell me who they was until i was FIRM and said to stop texting me.
It turned out some dude got my number from my friends phone?!
--- needless to say i put him in his place lol
It is annoying and i would ignore it.
