(to help me sleep the next couple of nights, aha)I know the chance of it actually being cancer is low. Thanks 3 Reply to this Question Share |

The doctor screwed around with me and the ultrasound results for a while but I finally have some news, although nothing concrete.
There is definitely a lesion, they are not sure what it is and now I have to get a biopsy next week.

I understand the horrible anxiety but please try not to worry. I had to see a genetic councillor because of a family history of breast cancer and have been told I have a moderate chance of the lumps turning cancerous, this was ten years ago and Every year I am screened and have to wait like you ( just had a negative result back). I have never been told why the lumps which are not visible anymore have not been removed and I live with that and hold the thoughts of 'Don't trouble trouble, until trouble troubles you' It's how i deal with it.please don't worry too much, often just cysts.

I went to the doctor and he did an ultrasound and it turned out to be nothing to worry about, just some lumpy tissue. It's fairly normal for women to get benign lumps in their breasts at some point in their lives. Try to relax, I'm sure you are fine.

Just my partner and he is away for work right now. Guess that is adding to the anxiety. I am getting some results tomorrow so hopefully I do not need any more tests or anything. xx

Yes, my mother has several lumps in her breasts. She was examined, and it was nothing dangerous. But just since she naturally has these lumps it becomes extra important to check the breasts, so you get familiar enough with the already existing lumps to recognize if you do get a new lump that changes/feels different from the natural ones. A cancerous lump will feel different, my mother told me.

My cousin had one some years back and it turned out to be, I think, a fat deposit or a cyst.

MOST women who find lumps in their breasts do not have cancer.
It could be a fibroid or a cyst or a clogged duct.
it could be hormonal due to cycling...
and thanks for the reminder it's time for me to schedule my mammogram...

Yes, me, the stress was unbelievable prior to the test, mammogram etc.
It was a cyst which they showed me on the ultrasound, then drained - hey presto the lump was gone. All the same day as tests.
So, hang in there, its normal to worry. Its good your getting checked too, it shows maturity. The staff were so good too, they deal with it daily and are so reassuring and calm x

First of all, hang in there. I'm so sorry you're having to endure this stress. I've been where you are with a different health issue, and it's no fun.
But let me reassure you, according to everydayhealth and other ststistics, between 80%-85% of all breast lumps tested out turn out to be benign. Those statistics are even higher the younger you are.
Please update us, and you'll be in my thoughts and prayers today.

Yes many women have. It's great you are getting it checked. It's most likely a cyst or calcification, as you're so young. My mom (who is significantly older than you) had a "possible tumor" from her mammogram and had to have a biopsy found out it was not a cancerous growth at all. Just try to relax with whatever methods you have to cope with anxiety, hot baths, running, meditation, etc... and remember that worrying won't change the outcome.

Yeah...my mum has. She found a lump and went straight to the doctor and got it checked. She was really scared (of course!!) and hadn't even told us about it...but it turned out it was just a fat deposit. Don't worry, it'll most likely be nothing to worry about in your case too. I know what it feels like OP... but just be strong. It'll be fine. Hugs...
