I have recently started an on-line 'relationship' with a man who lives a few miles away. We are getting on great by emails and texts and have swapped photos, he thinks we could be best mates and hopefully lovers one day, he feels very strongly that we will have a future, he would like to come on holiday with me to get to know each other better. I really enjoy and look forward to hearing from him, but it all seems to good to be true. Has anybody had experience of meeting a man in the real world? Does it usually end in disaster or could it turn out to be the real thing! We are both in our 40's and feel like it could be our last chance to find love LOL!

You have had some positive feedback about online dating, which i am afraid i am unable to give, since i had a terrible experience meeting up with someone i met on the net. I wont go into details, however, since i know a few people who have had a fab experience... even with one of them getting married together!

Be aware that it could go wrong... but don't base your whole life on the fact that 'it could go wrong'... because it could be that you have just met the best man in the world!!!

all the best!

Hi there. I met a girl online a few years ago and in the end we got together and we were together for three years. Although the relationship is over now, we had some fantastic times - in the end we just realised we were too different to be together. But go for it - there are lots of nice blokes out there who are on the internet because they're just lonely. He could be the one for you.

Ponungalungb agony auntThe 40's isn't old, so don't sound so desperate. I've never dated anybody "online", because I like to meet people in person, so I may not be the best one to respond to your question.

Personally, I would take it slow. When you finally do meet face to face, you might think he's the greatest thing since sliced bread . . . but then again, he may have been blowing smoke up your arse from the get-go. LOL.

You'll find out when you meet him "in the real world". . . and that's the only way you'll find out for sure.

Good luck!

Whoa, easy, back off all those thoughts future together, lovers, last chance, stuff. Wait until you meet him. It may work out, it may not. Do not rush into the lovers thing. Keep your privacy until you are comfortable with him. Good luck, but seriously you need perspective here, its almost a blind date. Don't be all imagining things that don't exist amd may never happen. You never know until you actually meet and even then it takes awhile.
