A female Canada age 30-35, anonymous writes:

two of my best friends are very pretty. people are always noticing them when they're out and it's something that i've just gotten used to and accepted. i just feel like slowly my self esteem is growing even smaller, because guys are friends with me are so shallow and only seem to talk to to me so that i can hook them up with my friends. and my best friends are starting to realize this too, and i feel like they are making use of their looks to benefit them and by doing so, they're also using me and this just puts me down even further. how can i deal with this? i know a part of how i feel is jealousy but i feel even worse about myself each day.

A female reader, ClearSorted India +, writes (4 June 2011):

Pep up yourself. Do your own things. If you lack in one, make up with other. Standout by being creatively engaged in courses, different social causes. Move out of this proximity if its eating you up but dont avoid as such. People usually are impressed by covers but later they find whats inside. So dont lose your esteem. LASTLY, if you want get a decent makeover but dont be desperate. All the best. U can get back to me.
