Guys, do you prefer shaved or natural/trimmed pubic hair?

Dear guys,

This is just a question for you: Do you prefer women to be all hairless/shaved/waxed in the pubic area or is it also okay for you if a woman is just a little trimmed or even completely natural?

Would it be a turn off for you if you had spontaneous sex with someone and discovered they are still a little hairy down there?

I just ask this because I started getting waxed down there which requires the hair to grow back to a certain length before it can be taken off again. And in a way I feel uncomfortable being all hairy for some time. But I really don't want to be in this endless shaving process anymore.

person12345 agony auntI once found myself naked with a ridiculous hot guy who tons of girls were after and I hadn't shaved or trimmed in months, it was totally "wild." He made a quick joke, I laughed, he laughed, and then it wasn't an issue again. Unless he's a porn addict, once you're already naked it won't really matter. It seems like an awful lot of maintenance to keep it fully bare at all times on the off chance you might have random sex...

CindyCares agony aunt Dear OP, your " safer " bet in absolute is doing what works for you, and what you are comfortable with, without worring about winning the Prize for Most Popular Crotch of the year.

I started trimming as soon as there was anything to trim there, in a long bygone era ( psychologically !, in terms of real time it wasn't that MUCH time ago ) when natural bushes were the norm, and perfectly acceptable not only in hair friendly Europe but also in hair-adverse USA. Then , I got comments, or puzzled looks. But, I liked it like that, I think it's more hygienic and more aesthetic.

Nevertheless, later on I never converted to the totally bare look, because it's too expensive, time consuming and- painful . ( Brazilian wax ? No thanks ). My philosophy was and is, if they like it fine, if they don't, they can go f..k Jenna Jamison ( sorry, LOL, obviously I am not much updated about current porn stars ).

Moral : do what you want, what YOU feel comfortable with. Sex is not all about what THEY want .

Dear agony aunts,

Thank you all a lot for your answers!

From what I read, it seems I'm somewhat on the "safe" side with going hairless.

At least with guys my age, or girls, and especially when it comes to oral sex. Trimmed will mostly be tolerated, though. Although some people might make comments.

However, I should keep the option to grow it back again if I ever fall in love with a man like C.Grant ;)

For me, having pubic hair or not is rather a question of laziness than an expression of my personality, since I also like hairless but sometimes don't want to make the effort.

C. Grant agony auntSVC, I'll step up to be your first -- er, in terms of liking unkempt forest, that is. I think the way my lizard brain works on this is that part of the thrill is in seeing something that's forbidden. If the garden's been tended, then it's intended to be seen, which takes away from the 'forbidden' factor. Same with tan lines -- an all-over tan suggests that what I'm seeing isn't all that exclusive.

I'm very out of step with what seems to be the current style, but then I've never been a slave to fashion. ;)

A female reader, So_Very_Confused United States +, writes (8 February 2013):

So_Very_Confused agony auntThe only definitive statement I can give you is that NO ONE I KNOW wants a totally unkempt forest of hair… Some men like shaved. Some men like trimmed… I think that you need to do what you like for you.

I can tell you that when I met my husband he was totally shaved and it was a total turn off for me… he’d been doing it for years and had always been with younger women who found it acceptable. I asked him to stop shaving and he has let some of it grow in and I’m much happier… he prefers me waxed but he copes fine during the growing out period…

The truth is that the whole shaving/waxing thing is a fairly new phenomenon. Look at classic old porn… all the players had full bushes….

A guy can say what he likes, but YOU are the one who has to deal with it...do what YOU want and need to do. A guy should not determine how you groom your pubic hair....

You have one end of the spectrum of guys who base everything on porn and models who are completely bare...seriously...who started that crap? Nothing like a grown adult having a body part that looks like a child who has not entered puberty yet...something creepy about that.

And then there is the other end where men really don't care, they just want to be "there".

There is so much maintanance and expense involved to keep up "that look"...after a while its just too time consuming.

A male reader, anonymous, writes (8 February 2013):

It will be a bit boring if you always look the same, won't it? If I were you, I would try different styles every few months.

But to give you a more specific answer, my eyes and my mouth like it hairless, but my penis likes it hairy.

As you mentioned, you need to let the hair grow before you can remove it again. The newly grown hair (specially on the edges of the labia) may scratch the skin of his shaft. I get a burning feeling almost every time my significant other has newly grown hair down there.

That said, I have to mention that I'm 38 years old. A young and inexperienced boy will probably not understand my logic. Young boys like it fully waxed.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (8 February 2013):

That's funny how people is now obsessed about shaving in private areas and just a mere 30 years ago no one shaved.

Women in many countries in Europe still don't shave even armpits.

With that said, most men that I 've been with in a past never liked any hair there, also my husband. Once I had it only trimmed, and a guy made a comment about it, though we took a shower together right before doing it, and I was perfectly clean there, he still said something how come I didn't shave there.

Only one guy out of everyone said that he likes lots of hair there. May be some kind of fetish, I don't know:)

I'm pretty open minded and appreciate the differences of either.

In all honesty if a girl was excessively hairy it wouldn't be appealing. But the last few women I've been with were very sexy either way.

llifton agony aunti'm sorry, but coming from a girl who dates girls (this girl) .. i gotta go with hairless all the way.

and yes, to me, it is most definitely a turn off to start hooking up with a girl just to find out she has a bush.

i'll go down and just come RIGHT back up if i see that. lol. now trimmed is a different story. i don't mind that so much, as long as it's not outta control.

i can honestly say, i've never ran into a woman i've been with who didn't shave.

shaving is really common now. anyway, of course this is just my personal preference. everyone has different things they like. i've just never been one for body hair, personally.

i shave my whole body; arms, legs, everything. so i guess i just prefer my women the same.

dougbcoll agony aunt i prefer either way on my wife. like her natural , and every once in a while i shave her with up close and personal attention. when i do trim her i leave just an small island up front. so i enjoy her trimmed and natural. the trimming i only do every so often. i think it looks good both ways.
