Hi,

I am uncircumcised and i have a frenulum breve, when i am erected it doesn't let me pull my foreskin behind the head because it hurts. When i am not erected i can retract the foreskin alot.

I am not sure what will happen if i will have sex because i am virgin. Should i do it? I mean what if it tears and blood will be there? Will it hurt? What happens in first time sex when you have a frenulum breve? I want alot of info because i am very concerned about it...

Thanks

ok heres my answer.

my fiance has a similar thing where he cant pull his back.

heres your answers

Should i do it? I would say no to having sex WITHOUT a condom. Me and my fiance use condoms even though im on contraception because it does not hurt him because of the barrier causing no direct contact and no skin to be forced back.

Will it hurt? if you dont use a condom then thats likely, if you dont then i doubt it will hurt

Ok here are ways on non doctoral healing, we got these from leaflets and sexual health advisors.

first one - run a WARM-HOT bath (tolerable) then lay in the back so your mostly flat obvz barring your head and if you have to bend your legs. but make sure your penis is completely underwater and your bodily is horizonal in the bath. This will relax and soften the skin. Get erect as this will help speed. then, GENTLY as if masturbating gently pull the skin back as far as it will go until its painful! then stop, rest and try again until you cant do it anymore. Over time this will help and ease it.

Second one - ok when relaxing in bed so the same thin in the bath but obvz in bed. or wherever but preferbly be flat. use lube as this may help reduce pain. when your streaching is getting better then dont use lube and try it alone

Time and patience - as well as feeling confortable - has to go into this.

If after 6 months there is NO CHANGE what so ever...then go to the docs.

The foreskin and frenulum (or any skin) can be stretched over time. This should be your first option as it requires no surgery. Stretching needs to be done consistently for 5-10 minutues twice a day for 1-2 months. Results should start to be seen within a few weeks. It is very simple and it works, as I have done it myself successfully. The concept is used in medicine all the time for burn victims, amputees etc that need to grow new skin.

Specifically for the frenulum, you can place your thumb inside the foreskin and grab hold of the frenulum where it attaches and pull GENTLY away from the glans (head). There needs to be tension and SLIGHT discomfort but no further as you don't want to cause tiny tears just create the right environment for new skin cells to grow. Time under tension is more important here than force! Once the frenulum is long enough you can pinch each end (where it attaches to the glans and where it attaches to the foreskin) with both hands and continue to stretch further.

Now, if you don't have the patience to put in the time to get results from stretching the next least intensive procedure is a version of frenuloplasty that can be done by your GP becasue it involves a simple stitch. Google 'tying the frenulum'. All the best. You can do it!

Hey.

I thought i would write a reply to you because last monday i went to hospital and had the frenuloplasty operation.

I knew for about 5 months that something wasnt right with my penis and hurt when i was having sexual intercourse. The pain is hard to describe, it sort of feels like your frenulum is going to rip and i was afraid of it doing so.

I decided to research the problem i was having and found out that i did infact have a frenulum breve. I looked up how it could be cured. There were two options. Circumcision or frenuloplasty. I was unsure of what i needed. I finally got the courage to see my doctor and he referred me to the urologist consultant at the hospital. The consultant confirmed that i did have a frenulum breve and that the frenuloplasty would definately help. He offered me circumcision which i declined because i could fully retract the foreskin when flacid, and when erect it was only hard to retract because of the tight frenulum.

The consultant booked me in for the operation which happened just 2 days ago.

He offered me to go under general anesthetic (sleep) or local anesthetic (numb and awake). I decided to go for the general anesthetic. I have never had an operation and i was scared of being put to sleep, but its actually a really nice feeling and nothing to worry about.

I woke up with it all done and no pain whatsoever! I left the same day because it was a daycase. I am now sitting here with stitches in my penis and with the frenulum removed. It does not hurt one bit. It feels a bit weird walking around in tight underpants but again, does not hurt (I am taking paracetemol and ibruprofen which obviously helps). I havent woken up in the middle of the night in pain. There is no bleeding anymore and am about to attempt my first bath since the Op.

If you do have a frenulum breve then i seriously recommend the frenuloplasty operation. It is nothing to be worried about. I admit i was very nervous about it all, and now its over i cant believe how worried i was!!

I am very much looking forward to it being healed so i can see if it has worked. But i will update you in a week or so.

I hope this has helped you if you, or anyone else, is thinking about having the operation.

If you have any questions about the whole procedure dont hesitate to ask :)

In conclusion though, if you want to have sex you can, just be careful you dont hurt yourself because i can imagine it being very painful if it tears.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (12 January 2009):

To be perfectly honest mate, I would have the surgery before you even decide to have sex - will make it much easier in the long run, but to answer your questions:

Should you have sex?

If you want to - but be aware there is a significant risk of tearing which will heal in time, providing you take care, make sure you wash frequently to avoid infection, and abstain for a minimum of 2 weeks to allow the skin to heal. I'd also try applying E45 cream (plain and unfragranced) to keep the scar supple to avoid future tears along the same scar. Even after it has healed though, there is no guarantee it won't cut again.

Will it hurt?

Almost guaranteed! It will most likely bleed, and yes it will hurt like hell, because it is one of the most sensitive parts of the male anatomy!

It is a common misconception that full circumcision is the only way to cure it - you are quite right that you can have frenuloplasty, or I believe there is another treatment involving stretching the frenulum, but I can't be sure. Either way, both are done under anaesthetic so will cause a hell of a lot LESS pain than letting it snap during sex!

Good luck!

A female reader, bookiebabyyy United States +, writes (11 January 2009):

My boyfriend had the same thing with him. He told me when we

first had sex it stung. But it healed over time. Depending

on who you are it might hurt but at the same time you might

not notice it at all. There are two things you can do in this

situation you can either be very careful during sex OR you

can get surgery which I think is the best option I could think

of. Because if you have sex you will get a scar and even though it may heal it will cause you scar tissue which makes

the skin more brittle. So it would be best to be circumcised.
