reader, anonymous, writes (10 November 2009): hi to the guy with a freckle on penis et al. I noticed the same thing when I was ?? years old. Just appeared. Went to the doctor, sent to dermatologist, said it was "Benign Penile Melanosis". Nothing to worry about and NOT STD. They don't actually know why it happens but rest assured this (what I have and others) is not transmissible or life threatening. Must go to your own doc of course and not take this as med advicer(disclaimer). Yes it does give a worry but could be nothing. ps. get yourself informed and then your girlfriends will be happier too. Might be an idea not to sun-worship the old fellow too much perhaps now? lol

 Now when you say freckles.. do you mean the type that are like moles ? if so it may just be normal or some kind of rash the best thing to do is to go along to the doctor and get it checked out. It could be something simple.. but without knowing for sure what the freckles look like its hard to say... you can go to a GUM clinic if you dont want to go to the docs and they can check you just the same. Only they wont tell your doctor so its more private. I wouldnt leave it too long, but it doesnt sound as though its something too sinister. It does depend where they freckles are, if they are on the head, it could actaully be some sort of thrush infection which is easily treated... but do go and get checked out so that you can put your mind at rest.
