He not only taught me how to solve mathemetical problems but also he taught me how to love. Some answers for the questions about student-teacher relationships often are answered by "it is so complicated so if I were you, you must stop it."What is the reason behind it?Can we be together? Teachers are in a position of trust therefore beginning a relationship with one of their pupils is a breach of that trust and professional ethics. I think it's highly frowned upon, but not criminal (unless underaged sex is involved). I understand that in the UK the government has thought about making it illegal, but so far hasn't passed any legislation involving it.
There is something undeniably sexy about having an affair with a teacher - so, so many girls (and boys) have crushes on their teachers - because they're older, wiser and they have your respect. You've seen how many similar questions there are on this site - you said it yourself.
Beyond the classroom, do you have anything in common? Do you really know him? Or do you just know him as Mr. Maths Teacher? You probably have no idea of his personal life, and the truth is that not many of these relationships can survive out of the classroom environment. Often it's not a relationship based on love, or a true connection - it's based on the fact that it's 'forbidden' and considered wrong. As you said, it's complicated.
Some do last, but very few. A girl in my year hooked up with her English teacher after she'd left high school - they're still together now - but this is a very, very rare eventuality.

I've read a story where this woman slept with her teacher and she regretted it.
One of the problems is the teacher is above you if you are still in his class. This creates power issues and favoritism.
Another is that, even if you are not in the class any more, sometimes age differences can play a part.
It's so taboo because it's not "socially acceptable." If you care what society thinks you will follow these rules, if you don't give a damn what society thinks, you will go ahead and go for it. And even if it turns out to be not what you wanted it to be, we can all learn from our mistakes.
