Excess body hair!

Question - (29 March 2009) 2 Answers - (Newest, 18 April 2009)
A female United States age 26-29, anonymous writes:

I'm a teenage girl and I have a really embarrassing question. I see all these girls on tv and my friends in the locker room and everything and I have hair all over my body and they don't. I asked my mom because she doesn't have any hair on her stomach or back or anything and she said a lot of people get body waxes done. Now I don't plan on getting that done any time soon, but I just wanted to know. I mean this prohibits me from doing certain things like wearing a two-piece bathing suit and prom is coming up soon and I am worried that I won't be able 2 wear a strapless or backless or even just a plain dress. Is there anyone who has experienced this already? It just makes me feel very insecure.

WhiteKnight agony auntIts because you're a teenage girl. You're at a point in your life where your hormones are changing, and the balances thereof can vary from person to person. If it makes you feel any better, its the same for guys. Albight hair isn't an issue for guys in the same way. I'm surprised your mom didn't explain this to you actually.

Its because your body is changing, its going a bit nuts, but really thats normal. Theres nothing wrong with you. To put your mind at ease and to better understand speak to your family doctor or nurse - don't be embarressed, they'll be able to explain it and help you understand whats going on.
