I texted him separately and he apologized for getting really mad and I thought things were going to be OK. Then he canceled plans to go out with friends and my friends and I got mad and he flipped and said the reason we aren't going anymore is because we are annoying. He ignores us now and we've texted him saying we're sorry but doesn't answer and just makes fun of us. I did a lot for him but he never saw that and it breaks my heart to know that our friendship is over because I really liked him. We have gotten so close this past year and now it's ruined because of a silly text. I want him back! What should I do!?

He doesn't sound like much of a friend. Perhaps you've found out who he really is, and perhaps the best thing to do is find someone more mature who isn't going to flip over little things.

Let him go. You apologized he didn't totally accept it and he wants nothing to do with you.
STOP trying to go all out for people like that specially if you do it in the hopes that they will return the favor.
Let him cool his heals, either he will get over it or he won't - even so, you need to back off and leave him be.
