Hi,this isnt a "love" question but im hoping to get some help.

My 1st driving test is coming up soon and since i've booked it in i havent had a decent nights sleep because of the worry. Im constantly feeling sick and keep crying about it.

Im so scared im going to do something stupid like faint or throw up on the examiner. Or even just run away and not take the test.

Im fully prepared that i will fail as my anxiety gets the better of me.

In the past with exams or other stressful situations i have tried Valium-which just makes me fel sick and bachs rescue remedy has no effect.

Anyone got any advice for me? I have trowled the interent for advice and its the same thing-get a good night sleep...well i wont be able to sleep properly, eat a good breakfast...i will have to force a slice of toast down me...Arrggghhhh! Im so scared.

Please help.

Thanks xx

Markingbad agony auntCalm down woman. Look at it as a practice try. You will at the very least learn a lot from it and increase your chances the next time. Or you may find that once you actually start to drive it relaxes you. The are used to people being nervouse and you havent got to be perfect to pass. The best tip i can give you is if you make a little mistake dont dwell on it at all. Just put it out of your mind and carry on. Dont let it fluster you.

TasteofIndia agony auntI know people who re-took their drivers test 3, 4 times. It's no big deal if you mess up, you just re-take it. I know before mine started, I was bawling in the car waiting for the guy to come. But, then I calmed down, pulled myself together and passed. It was way easier than I thought it would be. Just pretty much driving around the block. Just remember to put on your seat belt and make sure he or she has theirs on. Check your mirrors, use your signals and relax. Just pretend you're cruising with your Aunt Mildred.

It is NOT a big deal. And I'm sure they've had people waaayyy worse than you - I think of all the crappy drivers that I know and I'm like, how in the world did you get your license?

Just remember, you can take it again. It's not monumental. Just practice, practice, practice and get comfortable in that drivers seat. The night before, I'd go out for a nice long drive with your Mom or Dad and make sure you're feeling confident and comfortable behind the wheel. It might help you sleep better if the last thing you do is practice. And yes, definitely put SOMETHING in your system. Drink some juice. Probably not soda or coffee, as that will just work you up.

Just say to yourself, "it's no big deal, I can always re-take it". But, don't assume you're going to fail!! Just assume you're going to relax, chill out, do your best. Visualize being next to the examiners and being relaxed. I find visualizing really helps - sort of like at-home-hypnotism! Lol.

GOOD LUCK and reeelllaaxxxx, sweetness. You can always re-take it!

What is the worst thing that can happen? Failed test!

At the worst, you will be some pounds short of cash in your piggy bank. You will not perish or go to prison or anything like it.

Practice makes perfect they say. Just continue practicing your driving skills, have respect for the rules of the road and think positive. Talk to yourself and give yourself reasurance like "I'm practicing, I know the rules of the road, everything will be OK."

Driving test examiners have lots of experience. If your examiner senses that you are not ready, he won't let you out of the parking lot (mine didn't).

The most important thing to remember is that you must LISTEN to the examiner's instructions. Check your mirrors and speedometer every five seconds so you know your position in traffic at any given time.

In my city, most people will fail their road test at least once. Is not that the test itself is difficult; it is mostly about whether or not the examiner feels safe with you. My driving instructor told me that as long as my examiner felt safe with me in the driver's seat I would be OK. I guess he did not because I failed my first test nonetheless.

Be safe.
