Giving your virginity is this: When you have an entirely consentual encounter with any other person, and during that encounter your genitals are manipulated for the purpose of sexual pleasure.
So this means if you are a girl and another girl plays with your naughty bits, that is giving your virginity. If you are a boy and another boy plays with your naughty bits, that is giving your virginity. It could be oral sex, digital penetration, mutual masterbation, anal, vaginal, even if there is no penetration, it is when you are pleasured by someone for the purpose of engaging in sexual gratification, that is how you give your virginity.
The important thing to remember is this, however: it has to be consentual, and you decide what is consentual. If you are forcefully raped or molested as a child, that does not count unless you yourself decide it counts. Virginity is something you give away, it not taken from you.

Great question! I've often wondered the same thing... but not being a woman, I've not had to define the situation.
If seems to me that lesbians loose the V card the first time they have lesbian sex. So does this mean digital, oral or penetration (if so, with WHAT!). Bi's would certainly have 2 V cards, but gays too... oral and anal might come into play...
IMO, it's for each person to decide for themselves- there is no official play book...
