I didn't get a response until he accidentially posted a comment on my status page on facebook which was meant for someone else. I private messaged him the next day to say that I thought it had been funny what he had done and it prompted him to reply about the coffee. My question is that he does put alot of dots (ellipses) after his comments ie how was your weekend... This time he responded to the coffee comment with:By the way next time Im in Birmingham I'll let you know - but I would prefer it if you bought me a beer and not a coffee ! lol ..How would you read this comment with ellipses on the end especially as I only use them very occasionally to actually mean something in a sentence and I think he just uses them as a full stop.I would be interested in your thoughts on this.

I think he may be hoping the dialogue with you will continue, but he is uncertain what else to say...

I agree ... we see a lot of posts here ... sometimes the poster just doesn't have the formal usage pattern.... I think it probably doesn't really mean anything.

Eh, some people use ellipses on the end of a sentence pretty casually. I don't think it really means anything...
