Of course theres not a huge difference between 16 and 17. Besides, once you get out of school, age differences of even 10 years are pretty common.

Of course it isn't. It would be a huge age difference if you were 17 and he was 25-30. I don't think 16 years differ much from 17 year olds. You're both still in school and you're going through pretty much the same things. I don't see anything wrong in this at all. Unless, of course, you have doubts that have to do with something else other than his age. Otherwise, it's perfectly fine.

reader, anonymous, writes (10 September 2009): I'm in a similar position to you. I'm 17 liking this 16 year old. Who is only a year and a bit older than my brother and is friends with the same kind of people as him. But I don't think it matters.
So long as you're happy together. A year age gap is nothing really. If you want to, go for it.
