A few days ago, we started sending messages to each other. I know that she goes to worship every Friday and I can see her there. The problem is I just got offered a new job and I'll be in another state for a few weeks. I want to get to know her better. So I guess my question is, is it okay to ask her if we could chat online sometime?

Sure it's OK,why not. You are already communicating somehow , so it's not like approaching a perfect stranger on the streets asking her, hey I want to chat .

I don't mean to nitpick, but if you are messaging her on facebook aren't you already chatting online? So it would be fine to ask her, it isn't much different from what you are doing now. Just say in one of your messages that you would like to have a real time conversation online when she has the chance, that it is easier to talk that way rather than have to wait for the reply to a sent message. I think Facebook has chat as well if memory serves me well. So you could also just send an im over their chat when you see her online.
