writes:In britain we have an unfortunate race of people known as chavs. A chav is some one who:wears a baseball cap, wears a tracksuit (notably adidas), drives a cheap awful hatchback (citroen saxo usually) with a gigantic exhaust and the back. And they also act like they're 8ft tall and try to intimidate people.what is the equivalent in america?

there are kind of 2 "breeds" of bogans.
1. those who wear super tight faded jeans, flanalette shirts and have mullets. these seem to be more like the american equivalent of rednecks and are also sometimes called yobbos, westies or ocker.
2. more like the aussie equivalent to chavs - they wear wutang, fubu and adidas tracksuits, have super super low "cool commodores" and constantly do burnouts and doughnuts.

 Ive been to the states...I didn't see any 'Chavs' so I guess they are unique to England.
