Do me and my best mate fancy eachother?

im confused and embarrassed at the fact that i think i fancy my bestmate.

i think about her most of the time, we are constantly texting eachother through the day, and on a night we talk for hours online. She's always online before me and tells me she waits for me to come online. We joke with eachother a lot, and she makes 'joking' comments to make me think she fancies me, i joke back with her, and we just laugh things off. After atleast 2 hours of talking online, we still text or talk on the phone before we go to bed. i just dont think its normal that we are like this, we never use to be like this, and its only recently ive started thinking in this way. i dont know if i am bisexual and dont want to be. I would never tell anyone how i feel, i just need some advice please

A reader, anonymous, writes (11 August 2008):

Perhaps if you wouldn't go any further than kissing her and it makes you cringe, then you might just really love her as a best friend but at around this age that can be confused for fancying her, and I suppose there is a fine line sometimes. If you would kiss her maybe you are bi-curious or even bisexual to some extent, because there's all sorts of different levels of sexuality.

And in answer to your other question she may be feeling the same things as you. Would you consider talking to her about it??

Good luck!

xx Hope xx

A female reader, Angela.B United Kingdom +, writes (3 August 2008):

Angela.B agony auntHaving a close friend of the same sex as yourself, and both wanting and enjoying spending lots of time with that person does not make you bisexual.

Wanting to have sex with someone of the same gender does.

You have not said that you are physically attracted to her, so I would say from the information that you have given that you are not bisexual.

It is not unusual when we are young to find ourselves asking these sort of questions and exploring what the answers might be by thinking about the way we feel about our friends.

After all, it is normal that we love our friends, so how does that differ from being in love with another girl? How would it feel? Would we like it?

These are all normal concerns that people go through while growing up and working out who they are and therefore I wouldn't worry about it too much.
