Do they wake up one day and realize she was the best thing that happenend to him, and he vows to change and be a nice guy? Or this behavior is ingrained in their DNA and they are delusional in believing they are the greatest thing that walked the earth and any women that reject them have the problem. not them.  I would say that it is possible that a jerk could change, but that's not the case 99% of the time. My dad always says, once a jerk, always a jerk. Move on. I'm sorry for saying it so bluntly, but I've gone out with a lot of jerks, and left each of them for their behavior. They never changed.

I believe we all make mistakes and in the very rare case, a jerk may realise what he has lost, simply because the partner did not let the jerk get away with his behaivour! in my opinion. Example..parent child..if you don't stop been naughty you won't get icecream! how many parents stick to what they have said to the child? if you don't give the icecream then you can bet next time you threaten the same thing the child will not play up if it wants icecream. never threaten what you are not willing to carry out. Choice is up to you...he may be always a jerk it's more about what bounderies you are willing to set.

but i'm not saying that about everyone but then again i don't know any desent guys that have treated their girlfriend right without cheating or anything
I was with someone for about 4months and even though i knew he was seeing and sleeping with other people behind my back......i stayed with him because i thought he might change
I was wrong
