I started my periods a lot later than everyone else, and they were very irregular - once every two months for a while, then once ever 6 months. I have had an internal test and there were no cysts etc. I have now been on the pill for 2 years and am obviously as regular as clockwork on it. But I am still worried. Does my irregular periods mean I won't be fertile? I'd like to have a fertility test but I guess they don't do that unless you're actually trying to become pregnant - which I am not.

No, it just means you're going to have a harder time tracking your ovulation.
Doctors won't submit you to fertility testing unless you and your partner have actively been trying for a baby for a year.

Hey,
Don't panic. If you started after your friends, your body may still be getting used to having the menstrual cycle.
Mostly, its just because that, as a unique human being, your body clock is different and is just irregular.
Do not worry. However, if you feel that you are having other odd symptoms to do with your cycle, contact your local GP.

I would advice you to take breaks from your pill, keep a check on your cycle, and go for regular smear tests.

Not necessarily, you just won't know when you're most fertile when you try to conceive. You may want to speak to your doctor to rule out any hormonal imbalances so they are so irregular.

No, having irregular periods doesn't necessarily mean that you won't be able to conceive, it can just mean that it might be harder as it'll be hard to tell when you're most fertile.
I suggest that in the future when you eventually do want to try for a baby that you speak to your doctor as they'll be able to tell you more about your chances of becoming pregnant and probably give you some advice how to increase your chances of becoming pregnant.
