Not everybody likes it though as everyone's different. I personally love it, but my boyfriend doesn't. But as I love him so much I don't mind not doing it.
About the tasting salty thing -- erm?? Seems a bit strange. Obviously it's not normal as everyone tastes different. I personally can't say anyone I've ever kissed have tasted like a bag of salty peanuts. It all depends on what they've ate and as someone said maybe he's really sweaty!

I personally love 'em. Most of the girls I've dated did too. I can't speak for my guy friends, though; I try to give them their space when they're making out.
It's a very passionate, very sensuous way of connecting with someone, particularly when you're both jsut going out of control for each other.

I think women and men prefer French kissing, it mimics the action of sex and is very arousing.
It's ok if you don't like it, some people don't.
Salty, maybe he ate some peanuts or maybe he sweats a lot.

LMAO! Salty? Depends on what he ate or if he was sweaty. It could be normal, it could be something odd. I don't usually notice a salty flavor when kissing girls.
Is french kissing a guy thing?
Hell no! It's a people thing. Guys and girls BOTH like french kissing. Some people do more than others. I personally tend to be more middle of the road. I've had GF's who hated them, and others who loved them. Heck one almost chipped one of my teeth with how aggressively she went after french kisses. Everyone is different, and everyone has their own preferences. Some people are good at reading what their partner wants and likes, others aren't. If you like it, then no problem. If you don't, tell him to back off a little. Show him what you like. Tell him you want to lead so he can get an example of your favorite kisses. If he really likes you, he'll want to make you happy.
