He recently came out of a messy relationship and is going to come visit her in Spain soon(she is married). My friend mentioned me to him and he said (supposedly) as a joke: "Does she speak English well? If so, this is the girl I am going to marry." I am single for the moment and not looking for a relationship. I am not making any hope about this guy as he lives an ocean apart, I just want to know if 35 year guys say this kind of things as joke frequently(I find it quite weird, actually). From what I understand, my friend showed him some pics of me on facebook and it was after that that he asked the thing ...

Yes. Last night I was in a bar with a man who proclaimed his girlfriend of five years was the love of his life, future mother of his children and the only woman he could commit to. Also at the table, were 2 women he'd slept with behind her back and the girl who this morning he dumped his original girlfriend to be with. No joke.
More worryingly - why are you letting this play on your mind? You haven't met him - so you have no idea if YOU would ever want to marry him or whether you would even want to date him. Why is him saying he might like you enough to make him attractive? I'm sure your a fantastic girl. Surely until you know if you like him, then whatever he says about you is irrelevant. ;)

He hasn't even met you in person yet, of course he was joking.
