Do guys fantasize about rescueing the woman they love?

A female United States age 51-59, anonymous writes:

Do guys have rescue fantasies?

The reason I ask is this, I broke up with my boyfriend last December and recently found out about something that I thought could get him in trouble with the law, so I called him to warn him.

When I broke up with him, I asked that he not call, email, or otherwise get ahold of me because I didn't think we could stay apart if we had contact with each other. He respected this although I know it really angered and hurt him.

So, when we were on the phone together yesterday he stated that he thought that something was wrong with me and that is why I called him. I replied that I wouldn't call him if something was wrong with me, that I was calling in concern for him. He got really quiet and acted like I hurt his feelings. That's why I ask...do guys have some kind of rescue fantasies like girls have fantasies about being rescued? What does it mean if you do? Does it mean you still have feelings for a girl?

Guys do just love being the knight in amrour! However, this guy, as you have identified, probably isn;t the guy for you. Sometimes it can mean they have feelings, other times it can be out or respect. This guy might have been hoping that he could win you back over, but it seems likely that he isn't the one for you, so cease all contact again.

No this guy just hoped that you might still care enough about him that you would be his go-to person, in the same way that if you had a problem there is usually someone whom you would turn to to talk it through first.

Nothing more than that.
