Crossing the line in a friendship...???

A female United Kingdom age 36-40, anonymous writes:

Why would a girl who is "just friends" with a guy go out on the town with him behind his girlfriend's back when she KNOWS he has a girlfriend and the girlfriend doesn't like her and thinks she's after him? If they get caught, they'll be accused of cheating! Isn't that deterrent stronger than "friendship"?

A male reader, The Realist Canada +, writes (8 April 2010):

The Realist agony auntTo be honest it just makes their friendship easier for the jealous gf to handle if she doesn't know about it. I mean if they're fooling around then thats a big problem but I was in the situation a couple of years back. My gf over reacted when I would spend time with some of my friends who just happened to be girls so I would just say that I was out with the guys. Its not the best way to go but it does work in the short term.

The two girls should talk and come to an understanding that there is a gf and a friend and the two worlds do not have to cross. If the guy is trusted he should just come clean and should be allowed to have who ever as a friend.

You sound like a good friend of one of them so let them know that it should be openly discussed and worked through.
