ok so....

saturday 8th january i had unprotected sex with a guy while i was drunk. It's the first time i've gone back to a guys house after meeting them that night. and ive only slept with 4 people. The thing is i now have an itching / slightly uncomfortable feeling just inside my vaginal opening. from a closer inspection i have what appears to be a white discharge, its clumpy and it wont go away even if i clean it (it appears again very soon after) my clit also itches and is slightly uncomfortable. does anyone have any sugestions to what it may be. I thought it could be a yeast infection especially seen as im due on this thursday. My hormones have been all over the place. I know i should go to the doctor i just want other peoples opinions atm ... thank you

dmartin89 agony auntThis sounds exactly like thrush.

As a medical professional, I know that STI's will not show up this early. As a woman, I know the symptoms of thrush!

Go to the Chemist and get a Canestan self treatment pack which will clear it up. After your thrush has gone, go see your GP to get a swab, because you could have still have an STI. If you go to the doctor, he will tell you to go to the chemist to buy this, unless you don't pay for your prescriptions, you will end up paying more than you would without one.

I say this because your doctor wont swab you with obvious symptoms of thrush, it can interfere with STI tests.

In future always carry and use a condom.

aunt honesty agony auntIt does sound like it is thrush you have, its quite common after sex, but you did have unprotected sex and many STI's dont have any symptoms therefore you should go to your local sex clinic and get tested. Its better to be safe than sorry.

A female reader, pinktopaz United States +, writes (10 January 2011):

It sounds like a yeast infection. Get some Monistat if you don't want to see the doc. Get the one for 7-days not the 1-day or 3-day because they probably won't work. If you choose to see the doc, they'll give you some prescription pills and you'll probably get faster relief.

I think you should go to the doctor. Get tested because you dont wanna let it get out of control. Just in case its something major.

I'd say go to the doctor and get tested for everything. You can never be too careful with your health.

angelDlite agony aunthi

it sounds a lot like thrush so you're probably right in thinking its a yeast infection. if you want to avoid a trip to the doctor, buy some canestan cream or a difflucan capsule and see does that clear up the problem, it it persists do go to see your doctor

Go to the doctor, I doubt it's a yeast infection, more like an unwanted present from the bloke you had unprotected sex with.

Dont waste no time and go to the doctors right away. Dont feel ashamed of yourself just learn from what you have done.

Trying to figure out what you may have caught is wasting time as this will make the infection worse. If the symptoms go away, I would still advise you to go to visit your sexual health clinic or your GP.

Best Wishes
