Ok, so if I have sex with my bf I'm sticking somthing up to 9 inches up inside of myself, but if I use a tampon I'm meant to stick it up until it hits the vagina wall. So surely I'd need some kind of 7 inch long applicator to get a tampon to reach that far?

You can comfortably have sex with a large man or a small man, and you can grip a tampon or even a smaller object with your muscles. The vagina is made to contract and expand depending on the object that is inserted. Six to seven inches is the average penis size, but of course some men are smaller and some men are larger.

Bev is talking utter rubish as regards to penis length! My past 3 partners have had 8-10 inches, maybe her partner just has a small one!?????????

Well, actually not.
First of all, the chances of you having sex with someone with a 9-inch penis are about a zillion to one. Most men are in a comfortable zone of 5-6 inches when erect. Bi-i-i-ig difference.
Secondly, a guy's penis only goes in as far as it can. That depends on the depth of your particular vagina. When a man is long enough to penetrate right to your cervix, it can be quite uncomfortable for you, so you would tend to avoid thrusts that deep. So the nett effect is that guys might only penetrate up to 2/3 or 3/4 of their actual length inside you (though it might look like more viewed from the outside). Some guys might go more if your vagina is deeper.
Lastly, a tampon doesn't get inserted up to your cervix. There's no reason to. All you need to do is get it past the vaginal sphincter muscles. When you do, a tampon stays in the lower end of your vagina, a good 3-4 inches from your cervix.
Hope this helps.
