Condom discomfort

Question - (10 July 2009) 6 Answers - (Newest, 28 November 2013)
A male United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I've been married about 3 years and my wife and I were each other's first and we have always had natural, naked genital sex. Now she has a medical problem (nothing real serious) and has to go off birth control pills and stay away from other things with hormones. So we started using condoms, and I wonder if I'm doing it right.

No, it doesn't feel as nice but the REAL problem is when I finish inside her. When my orgasm starts, it feels like theres some kind of back pressure pushing the sperm back into my penis. Like, I'm trying to push it out but its getting forced back in and it hurts! I feel it in the muscles at the base of my penis and above the sack. If I cum hard it's really painful and wrecks the whole orgasm feeling. Last night I even pulled out and asked her to finish me with her hand, which I don't think we've done since we got engaged. She really didn't like that. She has always liked to feel my sperm inside her, and now she doesn't even get to hold me and feel me twitch inside her.

So is this normal, or am I doing something wrong? We have only used condoms about a week - will I get used to this, and it won't be so uncomfortable? We thought maybe the condom was too tight, and I'm a little bigger than most guys but not huge by any means, but we can't risk getting pregnant right now so we don't want to try the large condoms that might not fit tight and leak.

If this is what condoms are like, I understand why nobody likes to use them!

well, you didn't tell us what condoms have you been using and what are your dimensions

it might be that the condom you're using is too small/tight for ya

here's a short tutorial on how to find the right condom size:

hope that helps

let me know if you have any more questions and good luck! :)

Like others said, try different condoms. If you are still having pain, then see what your wife can do. There are female condoms and she could even get fitted for a diaphragm and use it in conjunction with spermicide.

The IUD won't work for your wife: it contains hormones and is implanted into her uterus.

Well if condoms are the problem you could have your wife talk to her dr and the iud. Its a implant that the dr puts in your wifes vagina. It protects just like a condom or birth control and it lasts up to 5 years. Its removable if you want to have kids later down the road. Google it!!!!

Danielepew agony auntThis is not what condoms are like. I believe you're blaming the item because you want to go back to sex without it.

Honeypie agony auntYou might have to be a little adventurous and try out some different brands. Make SURE you don't get the one the desensitize you, they are only really good for men who can't last long.

Either go online ( Condom Nation/Condom depot or any website that sells adult toys) or next time you are i a drugstore grab a few different brands and types.

I suggest going online and get a variety - then have fun testing them out.

As far as size, well try and buy some of the XL and see how it fits. If the fit isn't right then obivously the size is wrong.

passionatelynumb agony auntDo you leave any room at the tip? I know you are supposed to leave some space at the end for the semen. (Make sure you squeeze the air out though.) Some condoms even have reservoirs at the end for that purpose.

That being said. My fiance has recently gone off the pill and the same thing has happened to me. It hurts really bad that's for sure. I was too scared to come the next time.
