Chlamydia testing

Question - (7 December 2008) 2 Answers - (Newest, 8 December 2008)
A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Hiya, I have been sent a chlamydia testing kit free by our local NHS (they are sending out free testing kits nationwide to 18-24 year olds). I am 19, and had protected sex (condom) with a partner when I was about 15. I got with my recent partner when I was 16 and have been sexually active with him since (we just use the pill, no condom). He had sexual partners before me, and i belive had protected sex with them. We have both been 100% faithful to each other for over 3 years. So do I need to take the test?

I'm just scared that if it comes back postive, then will it cause all sorts of problems for us? i.e thinking either of us has cheated because I have got it, or that either of us has given it to each other from our past relationships over 3 years ago.

Am i just being paranoid? I just seem so worried about it when i shouldnt be because i havent slept with anyone else for over 3 years, nor has my partner.

Thanks for the advice.

Take it. Why not it was free?! I think that you are worrying about something before you even know if you have it. Be safe not sorry.

A reader, anonymous, writes (8 December 2008):

there's probably no need to worry but even if your current boyfriend has had protected sex with his previous partners and you with your first partner there could still be a slim chance as protection is never 100% safe, and i guess its always best to be on the safe side, and as everyone around me always say 'better safe than sorry'.

hope this helps xx
