Gina's right. You need to try to stop worrying about it as much and continue to focus on your own life. I have a friend who has bipolar, so I know that's easier said than done (it can be very worrying to see the sudden depressive mood swings, I know). To answer your question, depression can be very hard to talk yourself out of. I've been depressed, and sometimes still am, but I'm not bipolar, so I can pull myself out of it. Bipolar is not something you can just talk about to yourself, it needs care. So if you do find yourself feeling depressed, given your family history, it would be worth speaking to the doctor and talking about it.
