AskEve has a good point, I think, which is that there may be bleeding associated with implantation of the egg into the uterus. And apparently, there can be some spotting or bleeding. But a 'true' period cannot occur, according to the experts I've read.

Get a test if you are concerned. There's no point in driving yourself crazy with worrying.

Take care.

AskEve agony aunt"You CANNOT have a period while you are pregnant because both of these functions cannot happen at the same time. If you were pregnant and began menstruating, inevitably you would lose the pregnancy or have a miscarriage. Although you can't be pregnant and have a period at the same time, you can, in fact, experience vaginal bleeding and continue to be pregnant. These are two very different terms: vaginal bleeding and menstruation (period), but it is usually vaginal bleeding that women confuse as their periods." - WikiAnswers.com

Many mothers-to-be get a few days of bleeding (called implantation bleeding) right around the time that the early embryo is implanting into the wall of the uterus. Generally, this occurs five days after conception and may be confused with an early period. This implantation bleeding is normal and is not a sign of any problem with the pregnancy.

bobbles32 agony auntit can be different for everyone. It's possible to have your period while pregnant though..

it's not EXTREMELY common but it's perfectly healthy.

Though bleeding while pregnant can signal something is wrong, if this is happening to you or someone you know then you should get checked out by your doctor asap.
