I can honestly say that I loved them from the first puff. I am now 61 years old . Since that first try, I have been smoking four packs of Virgina Slims 120's a day. I have absolutely no regrets. My advice to you is that if you want to enjoy life, then you should start. If you value your health more, then do not start.

Oh yeah, and to the original poster: don't bother starting. It can be a VERY expensive habit. When I had my first, I didn't think I was going to be a pack a day (or, at one point, 2 pack/day) smoker. Now, I'm working at trying to cut down. Just don't even bother.

A lot of smokers get addicted by just smoking occasionally, say, only when they drink. It does not take long to get addicted and once addicted, it will cost you money and cause health problems. In my country, it costs $140 a month to smoke a pack a day. I smoked between the ages of 16 and 21, and I came down with bronchitis EVERY winter. Now dating a smoker, I worry constantly about his health.
Do you ever want to have children? If yes, then think about how hard it will be to quit when you're pregnant.

The corner shop next to my school would split a packet of 5 woodbines and sell them to us kids for two pence each. Later on when in the navy, we got them duty free, so there was no serious expense involved. By this time I was seriously hooked, and have been trying unsuccessfully to pack them in ever since. I once managed four years without one, and thought that 'just the one' cigar at Christmas would be safe. Not so. Hooked again.
Don't even think about it. When you're hooked it doesn't matter how many disturbing photo's of a cancer sufferer's swollen, inflamed, soot-choked lungs they show you, even though you know that's what your own lungs probably look like, you still smoke knowing full well what the risks are. I'll probably go to an early grave from either cancer or a heart attack. I know it's likely to happen. But can I give them up? Go figure.
Don't start, and you won't have to stop.

GIRLFRIEND!!!
My friends? All smokers. Me? Wasn't one until I wanted to socialize with them. I just smoked once, and then again on a different night and within a few months they successfully passed their dirty habit on to me. I still don't smoke really at ALL, but when my friends are around? It's all over! It is hard when all your friends are smoking and they offer you a cigarette. "Sure, what the hell!" turns into you buying a pack to share with the group, turns into buying your own pack.
The first cigarette you'll ever have will taste like you're sucking on flaming kitty litter. It seriously tastes like dirt. A muddy sock. It's disgusting. But, you'll get used to it and that's the problem. Suddenly you'll want something to do with your hands while chatting with the girls.
I could go on and on, but I'm not risking sounding like an after school special. Just do the right thing and remember that in 10 years, your skin is going to be looking young and beautiful and they'll be all wrinkly and hacking up a lung.

No, I have smoked before, just a couple times when hanging out with friends... not addicted in any way.

Probably not although that raises the question when do you become addicted?
Because nobody kept smoking because they liked it so much the first time.
Best to just not bother with it. It is expensive, causes bad health, hurts your looks and smells.

It takes 2 to 3 cigarettes to get enough nicotine in your body to be truly addicted. However, you may still feel a bit of a pull towards them from one.
However, tobacco is the most expensive pointless drug in the world. It's highly addictive and doesn't even DO anything.
I took a puff on one once and it made my eyes water and my throat burn. Did I feel good? No. There is absolutely no benefit to smoking unless you want to literally throw away your money. Plus you will kiss like an ashtray. Your teeth will go yellow and coughing up lumps of green stuff in the morning like a sick old man makes you look GORGEOUS!
Take a drag and see for yourself how pointless it is. It's the only drug I know that gives you NO HIGH whatsoever and a massive low.
Good Luck!! xx

Why take the chance? It's a nasty habit and expensive too.
