reader, anonymous, writes (18 March 2008): You can get both HSV-1 and HSV-2 from skin contact, even if the infected person doesn't have an outbreak. However, the chance of this is very low. This can happen because sometimes the skin has the herpes virus in it, even withour sores present. I think I got genetal and oral HSV-1 this way. I've only had one outbreak of genital HSV-1 in 28 years, but I get cold sores if I am not careful what foods I eat. The oral HSV-1 is a nuisance, no more. Get tested and don't worry too much. Anal itching could be one of many things. For example, you mave have an Anal fisure which is a small tear in the anus, it could be worms as they are one of the main causes of anal itching, and so on... All i'm saying is that its not neccecarily H. GO GET TESTED! I have genital herpes, it sucks, but its not the end of the world, please trust me in that even if you have HSV-2 you will feel better once you know one way or the other.

Being too shy to be tested is not a good excuse! If you're not too shy to have sex you are certainly able to take yourself to the doctors. You are putting your health and your sexual partners (present and future) at risk by being irresponsible. Believe me, the doctor will not judge you, the doctor is there to help treat and manage any conditions a patient presents with.

Yes, all bodily fluids. Vagina fluids especially.A condom is NOT enough, it only protects the penis itself not the rest of your body. The virus can enter through the smallest 'wound' that you would never ever notice, so any contact with someone elses body fluids is a potential risk. Yes this includes fingering or having her drip all over you. Women, use a condom ALWAYS even for blowjobs and never allow a guy to come on your skin.Anal itching would be a symptom of genital herpes. Why do you think it is so important to get tested before a new relation because condoms do NOT protect enough! If you really want to fuck someone with herpes you need to do a lot of work. The infected person has to take drugs to reduce the amount of virus in their body (Herpes can NOT be cured, ever!) you need physical barriers and special creams that block of your skin. It ain't fun to deal with at all and even with all that you are still only reducing the risks. It is especially risky if the female is the infected one because they have more fluids that can't be easily contained.
