Can it ever really be just friends when you feel this way about each other?

A female United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

If a guy and a girl are really good friends, know everything about each other, have great chemistry, and are physically/mentally/emotionally very attracted to one another, can it ever really be just friends? I have a friend who I connect with on all those levels (I have even had sex a few times with this person throughout the span of our friendship), but I know that they just aren't in a position in their lives to be in a relationship, and neither am I for that matter. Is it really just a friendship if each of us knows that we both really love each other but just can't be in a relationship?
