The method effectiveness Pearl index for the Pill has been measured as low as 0.3 and as high as 1.25, which means that under ideal conditions, anywhere from 0.3 to 1.25 out of 100 users will become pregnant during one year of perfect use (Pearl index = 0.3 to 1.25).Improper uses takes the rate up to 8%. If 1% change of pregnancy is too much to accept (like it will totally screw up your life) then use a 2nd method as well. A natural family planning approach will take you like a total of 10 minutes per month, and will give you belt and suspenders.

The answer is yes, of course there is a chance you can get pregnant taking the pill the way you have been.It only takes once, never mind more than once.. you would be wise to take extra precautions now, or just abstain from having sex until you are past your next cycle, as the pill needs to be taken continuously for a month to become effective.

Birth control can be rendered useless with some other medications, for example, antibiotics. Irregular use also hampers its effectiveness. To be safe, whenever there is a month when you are irregular, use a second form of birth control, like a condom. Birth control is hormones, not magic. It works because it builds up in your system, making irregularities important. Better safe than sorry.
