Question - (24 January 2013) 2 Answers - (Newest, 25 January 2013)
A female United States age 36-40, *abeen writes:

i went for job interview today for a guest room co ordicator and they asked me about my goal in five years and i said it would be to open my own salon. now that was really stupid and not realistic as i should have said it would be to excel in the position and learn more in terms of management, communication and build relationships with clients. Is there anything i can do to fix this and email them or something?

Yep, better to sound ambitious and go-getting than not! Try not to dwell on what was said. Even if you don't get this job you will get a good one elsewhere.

person12345 agony auntThat's not stupid at all, it's much more honest than some recycled manufactured line. It sounds ambitious. If you try to go back on it, you will sound wishy washy. If you don't get the position that's not why. That question is designed just to make sure you HAVE ambitions, not to hear a speech about your dedication to a company you don't work at yet.

Send them a thank you tomorrow (email is fine) and DO NOT mention that or try to change your answers from the interview. Just say thank you for taking the time to meet with you etc... Your answer was fine, it shows ambition and goals. That's what they want to hear.
