Its not that simple. Your body may react to the horomones and you may start spotting when you just started the pill. During my first two months on the pill, I got my period when I was still on the active pills.
So you cant just start taking it for that week. You have to start taking it sometime in advance if you want a fullproof plan.

Have you recently had a period? With most pills, certainly the one I used to be on (can't remember the name), I had to wait until I had had a period before even beginning the very first packet. If you have, take the first one now or tomorrow and just keep on taking it until your holiday is over.
If you have 21 pills in a packet, when that packet is finished start on the next one right away. If you need to by then, that is. If there are 28 in the packet, which will probably be 7 white pills (sugar pills), don't take them because you will start your period whilst taking them.
Hope this helps.

could people give a little more detail please as I know nothing about the pill, and have never been on it before.
So i dont really know what the combined pill is...? Or why its 21 days?
also what is meant by this:
"If you're going to be "having fun with guys" and you'll be ovulating soon, I don't think you should post-pone your period. The word I'm sensing is "pregnancy""
I dont want to get pregnant! And I may not have sex

Yeah, You just keep taking the rest of your pills right through your break then carry on as normal after that x

If you're on the combined Pill take it during your week break for another 21 days.
So that's the first 21 days then when it comes to your seven day break just keep taking it till you finish your second packet.
There is no harm in this at all. Many women use this methods three months at a time & only get four periods a year.
