Can anyone translate this dream?

A female United States age 26-29, anonymous writes:

Ok, before I tell you my dream, just know that recently my friends and I dropped two friends who kept causing drama and were really dorky. Don't judge. Also I am going into high school.

So i was talking to my best friend (lets call her A) and out of nowhere one of the most popular girls in my school (B) came up to me and whisked me away from A. B asked me if I wanted to sit with them that day, and she didn't ask before because there were some people in our group (meaning the friends we dropped) brought my status down. I said yes, i would love to and was really excited. Then i noticed A was walking behind us and that I probably would have to break it to her that I was sitting with B. I asked B if she could sit with us and she said of course! All your friends can. A came up and started talking with us and the thrill of sitting at the table was gone.

What does this mean? Thank you.

Thanks!!! I though about the symbols fatherly advice gave and they really do make sense and they correspond with the questions that jmtmj said. I have to say though person12345 is also right in saying it could easily have been a coincedence that i remembered that particular dream. Thanks!!

A male reader, Jmtmj Australia +, writes (22 June 2011):

Jmtmj agony auntDreams walk hand in hand with the subconscious mind, so they can give you glimpses into things that you desire and alternatively- fear the most.

Beyond that, there's not really a lot of substance to dreams in my opinion... So much of it is completely random, nonsensical jibberish as the brain (so far as we know from scientists), sorts, processes and stores the memories/thoughts/stimuli from that day. Selecting what is relevant enough to store in our minds and what isn't.

I'll occasionally lucid dream- which is basically dreaming whilst knowing one is in a dream and being able to control virtually everything you dream about. So if I tried to translate one of those dreams, or the dream I had about being chased by a gorilla on a motorbike who was throwing bananas at me, there would be nothing worth translating... other than that I should stop playing so much mario kart.

As fatherlyadvice said, you're the best one to interpret your dreams, so my advice to you would be to ask yourself two questions:

What do I fear in this dream?

(rejection, pain, hurting someone, confrontation, etc.)

What do I desire in this dream?

(what you're striving for, money, love, acceptance, etc.)

But yeah... take it all with a pinch of salt... symbols and dream dictionaries do nothing but add vagueness to vagueness. It can be fun I guess, but if you ask those questions of all your dreams then you'll filter out re-occuring themes and get rid of the pointless junk.

In saying that mind you, I've had a million dreams where the goal has been simply trying to move my legs forward... god forbid I be dreaming about climbing a staircase...

Again... pinch of salt.

A male reader, Fatherly Advice United States +, writes (22 June 2011):

Fatherly Advice agony auntI have more belief in dreams. I actually enjoy looking up symbols and trying to piece together a meaning that may be helpful to you. Psychoanalysts say that dreams are your subconscious trying to help you solve problems in your life. Generally if a dream is vivid enough for you to remember, or if it reoccurs, it is important.

I'm having trouble finding enough symbols in your description of the dream.

The dream seems to indicate that you are losing a part of your personality. You are indecisive. You are unsure that you want to lose that part of your personality. Also you seem to be looking for approval or acceptance.

friend = part of your personality going away.

Sitting = indecisiveness

Popularity = the need for approval

In my experience people are usually better at interpreting their own dreams. Keep a note pad near your bed and when you awaken jot down everything you can remember about the dream. Then use a dream dictionary like the one at dreammoods.com to look up the symbols. Often the symbols will have more than one meaning. You are in a better position to choose the right one.

person12345 agony aunt It means the drama briefly popped into your head as you were falling asleep (too close to sleep to remember doing so). Dreams don't signify anything, just what you were thinking about as you dozed off. Don't read too much into it.
