My sister is 15 years old and has acne breakouts. I was wondering if anyone has any at home remedies or advise on clearing it. She is always embarrassed about it and she also has the marks the acne leaves. I would like to find out a few things just so I could give her some advice. I never had acne so I dont know how to get rid of it and the marks they leave behind. So does anyone out there know how to heal acne and fade the scars? Thank you your opinions are appreciated.

Here are some over the counter products that help with controlling acne and are just overall good cleansers, not too harsh, and they actually remove all makeup quite well.

Don't wash your face more than three times a day though, as this can acutally aggravate acne.....The best thing though is to make an appointment with a dermatologist soon, what they prescribe will stop acne from getting out of control and can rid you of it in a short time which will prevent future scaring....I wish that when I was a teen they had the great stuff that they have now to treat acne.

Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser available at Walmart, Target, Walgreens....(I love this stuff and it's only $6) and a kit available at Walmart and Target "Acne Free Purifying Cleanser, Sunscreeen and a Lotion that Fades scaring and helps promote healing with less scaring...a good kit that is about $10, and it really does what it says it does....Still though, you really need antibiotics to stop acne from occurring in such a heavy way or none of these products are going to cure it....just help control the outbreaks and make your skin look better by controling the oil and blackheads that lead to clogged hair folicles that cause acne in the first place, but can't rid the underlying bacteria that is the root cause....there are prescription topical antibiotics and oral meds that do the trick....so see you doctor before buying an expensive line of skin treatments, they won't work the way the claim if you don't first control the underlying bacterial cause.

stina agony auntHi there,

I suggest using Arbonne Clear Advantage system (soap, make-up remover, face lotion and vitamins.) My skin is EXTREMELY sensitive and this is the ONLY line of products that has worked for me - and I have tried everything else, including most perscriptions. You can actually find sets for sale on eBay that don't cost too much. (Otherwise, you have to buy from a representative, kind of like Mary Kay.) Here is the website if you awnt to read up on it: http://www.arbonne.com/international.asp

My mother-in-law uses Sulfacet-R, which is only by perscription. She had adult acne up until five years ago when she started to use it. She said it worked for her after 2-3 weeks. She swears by the stuff. I know that you asked for home remedies, but if you can, I suggest she speak with her doctor or dermatologist about this product.

Take care.

I suffered with acne really badly and tried just about every anti biotic there is and even had a private dermatologist which cost alot of money, i was finally given accutane which isnt a pleasant drug because of the side effects, anyway they worked but after about a year they started coming back, then i found a website that a guy in the states created and his regime is cheap and it has help thousands of people world wide, i've been doing his technique for a couple of years now and i have clear skin,

check out www.acne.org you wont regret it, there is even a video on there that shows you what to do and i swear if you do what he says it really works and costs a few quid for the stuff that you need.

I wish i'd have know about it 10 years ago it would have saved me alot of pain torment and upset.

Good luck

Don't mess around with this, she needs to see a dermatologist who can put her on antibiotics and possibly some topical medications to fade the marks, and to get rid of the current breakouts. Benzol Peroxide is the drug of choice over the counter, but perscription is so much better, food does not effect it, but her hormones could...when she is a bit older, taking the birth control pill sometimes helps with acne but not always...

She most likely will outgrow it, it is a common teenage affliction, and lots of adults have it too.

hj87 agony auntI had the same case of acne as your sister. Yes I did feel very embarrassed, about the pimples, big cysts, and etc on my face. This is what I did, I went to go see a dermatologist and he gave me these pills called Erythromycin. These pills are magnificent, these pills cured my acne. She has to take it 2 times a day.(morning and night) My skin cleared up mostly in about 3-4 months. My skin looks so much better. Hope this helps!
